WHAT is ICM and WHO is BMIC? Minimize

ICM is Inner City Mission, a short-term residential center designed to help the homeless find their way home. ICM is located at 714 North 7th Street Springfield, IL. 62702. It was started in the summer of 1984 when 8 independent Christian churches met and decided to do something to help the homeless in our area.  ICM can now house up to 17 families at any given time.  Unfortunately, there is a waiting list of people needing assistance.

ICM is supported exclusively through private donations from individuals like you and me, organizations such as churches, and ministries like BMIC. ICM needs prayer: prayer for the residents, the children of the residents who are the innocent ones in all of this, and also the staff and the families of the staff members. Another need is material goods, similar to the things you would use in your own home.  As residents move out to live on their own they are given linens, as well as household items like pots, pans, curtains, and furniture.  ICM is happy to provide you with a tax-deductible receipt for all of your donations.

Approximately 9 full or part time men and women staff ICM 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.  They serve day in and day out and are always looking for volunteers. What can volunteers do? They lead Bible studies, fix meals for residents, transport residents, do office filing, organize supplies, help with fix-it jobs, etc. When a person comes to volunteer, ICM strives to match your time, talents and interests.  This will allow you to work in the area in which you are most comfortable. Please call 217-525-3940 if you are interested in knowing more, donating or volunteering at ICM.

BMIC is Business Men In Christ. BMIC is a group of Christian businessmen who encourage each other to be a powerful influence for Christ in our marketplace. BMIC meets at the "Center for the Arts" building at 420 S.6th Street, Springfield, IL the second Saturday of every month at 7:00 am for breakfast and a one hour program. This ministry focuses on 3 principles. They are Discipleship, Outreach, and Service. Discipleship because  as we grow individually in our relationship with God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit we can impact our home, culture, and our world. Outreach because Jesus has charged us with the Great Commandment in God’s word. Service because we are not just to be hearers of the Word, but doers also.

Business Men In Christ has partnered with ICM through financial support, volunteering our time, spiritual support with our prayers, meal preparation, fellowship, Bible studies and devotionals. BMIC provides service to other ministries as well.  We have planned several future events to reach out to business men and our community.  BMIC is for ANY man regardless of what you do for a living, because we are ALL in the business of Christ.  Interested in knowing more?  Call 217-622-4069, or visit www.businessmeninchrist.com.
